| This silent meditation retreat will offer myths, stories and archetypes of Buddhist womxn, past and present, as inspiration to illuminate and embrace all aspects of our wisdom, compassion, and desire for freedom. We will weave diverse expressions of feminine energies and the innate ways womxn know and understand into the fabric of the retreat, community and practice. An exploration of feminine and transfeminine archetypes including: Prajnaparamita, the mother of all Buddhas; Kali, the divine protector; and Quan Yin and Avalokitesvara, the one who hears the cries of the world. We will journey through the stories of womxn who surrounded the historical Buddha, and follow the feminine lineage of the Dharma through present-day Buddhist nuns, teachers and practitioners across the cultural spectrum.
Our time together will include silent sitting and walking, meditation instruction, daily embodied movement, dharma talks, meetings with teachers, and creative expression. This retreat will be five (5) full days: beginning at 9:00 a.m. the first day and ending about 4:00 p.m. on the last day. A general daily schedule will be posted soon. |
